IF you think this is fun your definition of the word is VERY @#$% different from mine.

Welcome to the game. Git gud.

Just kidding!

If the Elder in the seed on which you are playing has been killed then the swamp raids are triggered. If you've killed the Elder, you would have already have dealt with raids from the Black Forest ("The Forest is Moving") and you would have (should have) built some defences against that. If not, chalk this up to a learning experience. Get those fences up and trenches dug in! Then work on making your place look awesome.

If you're spending a lot of time at your base within range of work benches and/or beds, then you're more likely to trigger an event after about 45-ish minutes.

If you're on a dedicated server where people can come and go as they like - this is an issue with the server, not the game. Someone else has been playing, killed the bosses, and you have to deal with the fall-out from that in the form of raids which are probably too high a level for you to manage. It's one of the few downfalls of playing on a dedicated server that anyone can log into at whatever time that they like. The game was never really intended to be played like that. So it'll be a bit crap if you're low level or a new player.

Also, people can be right dkheads on servers and can (and will) spawn stuff in to mess with others.

This is not me defending the game or giving you grief, I'm just saying how it is. Not going to get into any arguments about how or why or if the game does this but it's been this way since day one and hasn't changed much since then.
