I flip it backwards and leave the needed space between it and a wall. That way it never comes on. Thats in the really treacherous places, tho. At the fort they are just around but none 'inside' or nearby. As I too do not enjoy hitting that activate zone. But when they must be near, flipped. Or you can try a slip hole, since you do not need to strike the 'hoop' in the center being parallel with it, you can simply fall onto a ring and activate it. As it has been documented in this very forums, in a thread I commented into. Seeking exactly those details. Fully documented. Boxing it likely would help alot. If you double wall it, or use block in concert, you may stifle it completely.
Mainly I only get irritated with it when I know I need to hear things.
