If you are going to rationalize why you think rested bonus "needed a nerf" - probably don't realize how game engine worked, and still works today, even after nerf.
Vanilla system today, after nerf is as follows - CF = comfort factor
CF 1 = 8 min base rested // light campfire, zero sheltered status and standing barely out of rain and you get 8min rested after ~10-15sec standing around
CF 2+ = each additional CF adds +1 min
So campfire plus 1-2 minimal twigs counting as roof for sheltered status = CF 3 --> 10 min rested bonus
What this means is b/c of mega-front loaded base of 8 min, being barely out of the breeze with 2 sticks counting as roof near campfire gives 10 min rested.
Compare this to effort to find, hunt, and build max CF 18 base (today's new max, with 16 being more realistic since can only achieve 18 using holiday/limited event xmas tree and yule pole)
CF 16 = 23 min rested with max endgame base vs 10 min w/ campfire + couple twigs
Not quite half, but close enough - 10 min for zero effort vs 23 max endgame effort.
So what did we lose? Yesterday, CF 16 was actually CF 21 because we could stack 5 more rugs/carpets. CF 21 = 28 min rested.
That is a LOT more reasonable comparison - zero effort campfire + roof 10min vs 28min if you actually made the effort. 1x vs close to 3x.
Now to the 'needed a nerf' people - when you can literally stand in the rain, with 2 twigs above you counting as 'sheltered' status and no effort campire plonked down infinite number of times, with every area inculding dungeons able to have campfires, how is it overpowered in any way for bases to have significantly more comfort?
TLDR = we could always, and still today can infinitely reset the 10min campfire + sheltered rested bonus, so what exactly do you think 'needed a nerf' by reducing endgame bases from 28 to 23 min?
All it did was upset ppl who actually took the time/effort to maximize their base, while allowing the still massively OP infinite reset of campfire + shelter hack. If you think endgame base 28 min needed a nerf, then what do you call infinite 10 min anywhere, anytime, using nothing but 5 rocks and some twigs to perma rest buff?
Don't like how long main base rested bonus was? Fine. But gotta come up with better rationale than needed nerf b/c the true OP buff is simple campfire + sheltered which gives the vast majority of the bonus by front loading 8 minutes into single comfort factor 1
