I am pretty stoked about that also. Val is a mostly complete game, I'd say. In it's current and past states maybe a bit lackluster. For the most part the functional mechanics are done.
I would not have been disappointed for the 15-20 bucks I paid(I think~13?). It wouldn't have felt like a complete game though. On that fact I can't really 'complain'. I'm pretty happy with it, even after the changes to landforming.
But the content doesn't quite fill the vast amount of space we have, which for me atm is not an issue. Since I've not progressed far in-game. I've still not confronted Elder, and have only begun to be more able to safely navigate the realm. Only the high tier mobs need worry me now.
With the addition of the Frost Caves and soon Mistlands, it likely indeed will feel a bit more full. I would like to see a great deal more effort on polish.
A series of these games would only get better and better. Most of the fundamental concepts have been ironed and translated to digital. Tweaking is still needed, as more components come on-line. I am hoping they can devise innovative tools for us to better utilize all of the capabilities the program offers.
And for me at least. With the two more biomes left to implement, and more creatures to add to the line-up. Seeing the final tally of the flora and fauna, the POI's and the misc. tidbits is what I am waiting on. We will have a fair sized catalog to interact with but will we have the player capabilities to keep up with all the vast complex information. And what is the state of the final product how will it be different or better than what we are working with now.
