I have 2 maps I frequently play: One singleplayer, and one with my friends. The MP map was generated by said friend. In both games the foggy weather has been like this consistently over the last 200 or so in-game days.

I think the only way to avoid that level of fog would be to build in meadows. I built my base in the dark forest and it's always ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ foggy, and it always seems to reach its worst when I start farming vegetables
