Switching to windowed mode instead of fullscreen greatly improved performance on my computer, which is quite similar to yours : i7-4790k and GTX1060.
I get between 60 and 100 fps.

8GB of VRAM doesnt matter here and let's be honnest : that setup does NOT run well very recent game on high / ultra. even though the comparison with Valheim is irrelevant anyway.
