It does need a balance. Most of the biomes I've discovered have been a collection of small, high islands which makes navigation a tad frustrating. When I find an infested mine, there is invariably a gjall camping it which proves hard to avoid as the only escape is to leg it into the mine or jump into the sea and die from stamina drain. The dvergers def need a boost, or the ability to respawn as the most recent one got one-shot by a seeker before they could even get a shot off.

The mines are pretty good fun, unless you get swamped by 3 or 4 seekers at the spawn entrance.

The main problem is ticks as they spawn-camp your corpse if you die and you can't outrun them. You can dodge their leaps but the slow regain of stamina as you do this makes for a frustrating experience.

Enemies should avoid destroying wisp torches. This mechanic worked well for Minecraft :).
Ooze bombs pretty much negate tick campers. Deathsquitos as well. Can't forget the lessons learned from easier biomes! Mistlands was challenging as a solo player but there are definitely solutions to every complaint I've read so far.
