The great thing about a map wipe is that you get to take what you learned from the prior map and see how well you can hit the same goals, or even new goals on the next one.

I don't see a point in restarting on a new map. Why would you do that? If you carry on the characters, then its basically just oneshotting the bosses, and you have lost your old bases, memories, and exploration for... what exactly?
I could see a merit in completely restart with naked characters, but thats a different story.
