I've never had enemies spawn in my base too. That's the point. It's the same base for the last 100+ hours. No heavy mining (don't know what you meant by that), only a little raise/flatten, and I have workbenches and torches EVERYWHERE in excess. I don't know how you can get a hole in the protection field 6 feet from a workbench or a bonfire? And it happened right in front of me, they just popped in while I was running around doing stuff
