The portal cabinet helps but is not totally effective.

In my original post, I said I was annoyed by both the visual effects and sound effects emitted by a portal when approaching within two meters of the rune side of the portal. The idea of building a cabinet with was advanced by Hamther and sounded great. Alas, in practice it turns out to be good but not great.
The first screenshot above shows a portal cabinet with one of its doors open. The flame effect is somewhat reduced. One may note that there are also sparkling particles which originate behind the viking and move into the connected portal. These are not reduced and neither are the sound effects.
The second screenshot above shows the same portal cabinet with both doors closed. The flame effect is completely hidden. The sparkling particles and the sound effects are not effected.
One may also note that the portal is placed against the exterior wall. There is at least a meter of the 2 by 2 meter floor tile unoccupied by the connected portal. The two doors are built on the near edge of a second 2 by 2 meter floor tile abutting the first. The viking is standing on a third 2 by 2 meter floor tile abutting the second at least a meter from the doors. The trigger range for connected portal visual and sound effects must be considerably greater than two meters.
Will I tear down the portal cabinet and reposition the portal so that it faces the exterior wall? I suppose I will at some point when my cranky old man becomes sufficiently annoyed to force my lazy old man to do so.
