One thing I do agree with is that mobs could have better/more difficult star variants depending on either game stage (prefer this one) or how far you explore out rather than it being random the way it..

Just only use troll armor and no black metal weapons. Stay in the Iron Age with tools/weapons. Still easy but will still be punished if you make mistakes.
