Strange, I'm overrun with feathers. Going outside on any morning, there are birds sitting on the ground which can be easily killed with a bow. They also tend to alight near you in the late afternoon.

So are you saying you have a base you build months ago and now it has issues?

N.W.O. if you get your butt kicked make sure you get the weapons the mobs are vulnerable for (youll see yellow dmg numbers), most likely maces will do the trick along with a poison res potion

Possible? Probably. Easy? No. The DPS on the sledgehammer is too low to be a viable primary weapon.

Strategic planting of trees and then trying to get as big of a chunk out of the forest you made, by felling a single tree, is honestly immensely entertaining.

Yeah, chopping trees is one of my favorite things in this game.

There's at least one building mod with a 'delete every entity within X feet' type command. Handle with caution.

The woodcutting one needs to be permanent while equipped. As a temporary timed buff it's nonsense.

I've had falling trees take out seagulls in flight, which is extra hilarious combined with a resource doubler mod. If you don't see the bird that would look like 'tree drops feathers'.

If you manage to get a harpoon before Modor (not too difficult) then that is a great way to kill birds.

There is a chance trees drop feathers, not every time. Just kill some birds with ordinary wooden arrows, should give you a few stacks in no time. If you can't find them, go to another place.
