You need to "control" where the smoke goes... Smoke particles are big... 2m x 2m is the size, so you must create a flue directly above the fire and it needs to be a 2m x 2m "hole" ..

Yeah it doesn't have "full" durability until lvl4, which isn't available yet. Would be nice if later weapons had higher durability to start with, but oh well.
