They aren't dead. If you take them back to water and let them go they will swim away.

prepare for a difficulty spike thats about 2x harder than the plains and still 1x harder even when you have that biomes equipment

If you can find a crypt and get on top of it you and your portal will be pretty safe from most swamp hazards.

It W key my boat on a rock outcropping along with my portal and then proceeded to kill me while trying to save said portal.

Just kite it with fire arrows. Preferably not in the swamp if you are not geared but toward the nearest biome.

The difference might be due to having limited space on a drive, and it can also be an HDD vs SSD issue. So if you're hosting the game, maybe check the task manager to see how crazy your disk activity ..

The Plains are several biomes ahead of the Black Forest in progression. Sounds like you wandered into a lox. The biome you should go to next after the Black Forest is the Swamps.

Especially when they teleport onto the rock you're shooting them from.

Lol, tier 2 armor fighting a tier 5 mob. Sounds like the expected outcome.

I don't mind. I got my first wolf pelt wearing toll armor because I led a swarm of Gray Dwarves to the foot of a mountain.

They do chase quite a bit. Even if they are 0 threat, it's annoying to hear rocks being thrown at you as 3 greydwarfs chase you for 3 miles straight.

Not sure about other fish, but my pike was pretty unhappy with its new life stuck on the wall.

What do you mean by resetting ? Does your skills go back to 0 or your shield/skeletons disappear ? Because you should only lose skills upon death, like every other skill there is

It used to be a challenging unique biome. It actually does look good if you take time to explore it. Unfortunately now they've nerfed the ai and it's so easy that it just feels like a repetitive grind..
