What I think it is from a design standpoint is they dont want you to build to many of these and make defense to easy for your base. If thats the case make the resource need higher, or limit the number..

Either make turrets work like 99.9% of people expect or take them out the game. The way they work now is possibly the most hilarious and amateur dev decision I've ever seen/heard.

Lol you needed friends in the infested mines? Sounds like you needed the nerf more than anyone else, infested mines are easier than outside and outside was already easy, now it's just not tedious.

How do mods work with dedicated servers? Does everyone on it need the mod or does the person who set up the server need to use the mod? Or can you use mods with dedicated servers at all?

We have had similar issues. We've started playing with the Mod Floating Items. At least you don't lose all your boat mats this way.
