Instead of standing on the stone block, have you tried raising the terrain by standing at the correct elevation nearby? Set it to match a few meters away and start from there. You'd have to eyeball it..

The trench doesn't have to be that deep, just deep enough to get vertical walls. Two vikings high should do it. And then you can sprint jump out of it, especially at the corners. Also digging in line ..

villages can have 0-2 totems but the stone towers ALWAYS have 1 and there's never more than 3 regular Fuling so I seek them out over the villages
