Magic is so far weaker than bows or melee when you look at sustained damage, I play it more as off weapon, bursting my Eitr out and then switching to melee/bow, rotating back whein Eitr is full. They ..

magic has its own skill bar, so, it should get better over time like other weapons. though, i dont know if the skill bar actually affects damage, or just mana usage.

Frostner and Porcupine can carry you through mistlands just fine. They still pack a wallop and when combined with the parries from the new shields you'll crush those seeker soldiers.

I'd wait. In terms of new content, they say one biome is almost released and theres a couple new enemy types, a cave, and some food options. The other changes you won't notice yet.

they should slap 1.0 with mistlands, cuz they will never finish it at this work rate.

no point in waiting for full release. play it, love or hate it, forget it for a year or two till the next big update. it is not an mmo so it is not like you are trying to compete or stay competitive.
