I have to say, hiding the fishing pole behind the merchant isnt a design decision I support.by the time you get it, you can craft better food. and by the time you can cook it, you also ahve better foo..

Not being able to craft a fishing pole at the start of the game is kinda daft, some seeds you can easily finish all 5 bosses before you find the merchant.

There's those Stonehenge looking areas in Meadows where if you excavate in the middle of them, you might unearth some treasure

Those stones in the Meadows arranged in the shape of long ships also mark the location of buried treasure.

They were in the game from the start. Necklaces can also be found on some skeletal remains in Black Forest crypts and those stone "huts" in the meadows.

It's really hard to say, it depends on what has changed in the game code. During active development, all kinds of tinkering can go on (improvements, cleaning up messy code, moving functionality around..
