Start from your monitor and work back. If it's a 1920x1080 then your specs are not going to be expensive. However if it's a 3840x1600, or 3840x2160, it will cost a lot more.

Just have a pen that has a roof. Personally build mine with the cage pieces.....walls and roof, then a thatch roof over that for extra protection. Haven't had any issues.

The game goes an auto save every 30mins or so, but you can force it to happen by typing the save world cmd into the console. You will need to look up how to access it but yeah that should be of help.

I agree with op. The portal-ready effect is cool, but it should simmer down after a second or so. Keep a piece of metal in a box where your portals are, and carry it when you want to work around them...
