On a side note, I really love the waves in this game too. I think they made the waves a bit bigger a patch or 2 ago. Just love rocking out on the high seas, I mean Ocean.

If you are fairly new to the game and haven't explored much beyond meadows, yes, you can keep your world. Otherwise, I highly recommend to restart (either the same seed, or something new).

You could always just make a 1 wall high opening with a 45 roof cross snapped over the top of it to give yourself clearance, with no door attatched.

You probably will need a new world, since new stuff can't really be pushed onto explored areas without having maybe adverse effects on the player. Especially when they've already modified it extensive..

unexplored areas will have new stuff when the game updates, so areas like the mistlands should be fine since you have no reason to explore them currently, but they might add new things to older areas ..
