Its pretty random. I have seen small swamps with 6 crypts and much larger swamps with zero crypt.

Depends on the size of the biomes. They have to be large enough to generate stuff. Mountains need enough expanse to grow tall enough (silver and such only generates above a certain height), swamps nee..

yea right now he just sells some pretty niche items, the belt and fishing rod should be craftable, I still havn't seen a merchant without booting up a seed I had to look up.

Early Access. I imagine they haven't added everything he will have and may even sell some items as temporary placeholders until the other biomes are added and they can be found/crafted normally.

I mean not sure how much of a content patch Hearth and Home will represent. Really depends on how you approached the game I guess but as others have pointed out it is coming in short order.
