honestly, I think the one thing they clearly got wrong was just too much mist. If you look at the trailers for ML you realize that they dramatically toned down the mist for those and it actually looks..

This happened 3 times today. I lost my progress and all the items I collected. Even my ship is gone. That´s not funny anymore. The game freezes (while saving) for a few minutes and then crashes.

if you have the means you can try to test it, do a lan party MP session or play with each friend one at a time in turn, see if one of them is the problem. it sounds like networking to me.
