Weapons should require more materials than a bench, since the weapon is way more useful. Plus, 20 core wood is like 2 pine trees, barely anything.

Trust me, eventually these quantities will be just a drop in the bucket if you ever plan a huge build.

How far into to the game are you? Did you encounter the amount of ore needed for crafting and upgrading yet? :p

Difference in world seeds?

RNG is RNG. I explored a mistland area the size and shape of Chile and found exactly 1 dungeon after 3 or 4 days.

The developers have promised configuration management and that will hopefully satisfy the folks who would prefer customized difficulty settings.
