I doubt it is intentional, more liekly the devs just didn't add code to the arrow mechanics to make them slow down rapidly in water and IG just hasen't gotten round to fixing it or they just don't car..

It's called being prepared. This game requires you to make GOOD solid decisions and take time making sure you have backup gear/food, portals, transportation. This is not a game to breeze through.

Backup set of gear + Bonemass power = easy corpse runs

i love the update. I needed a few mods to make it right for me but otherwise they did a great job. The magic update is a lot of fun but does make me wish we could start magic earlier in the game.

Get high enough and the mist no longer becomes an issue. There are sections of the biome that don't have the obscuring mixed, it's more dotted about.
