A2 does have a maypole on the start island, but not so good on the biome front. 'NoBoats' is also ironically terrible with not even Eikthyr on the start island.

If you really want to do it, there is a way. A mod called Heightmap Unlimited Remake. It allows you to dig or raise the ground more than current limitation.

I am not sure but the limit is +/- 8m from initial terrain level ? It means you can dig 8m hole with pickaxe or raise up the dirt wall 8m height with hoe.
