Searching for Controller Support

Hi,I'm considering buying this game but I notice that it has "partial controller support".I can only play games by using a controller (medical reasons) so I'm wondering if anyone who is also..

My controller is definitely recognized by steam, using xbox controller. The gamepad enabled button is checked, but no response. Previously worked well before mistlands update.
