stone is arguably the hardest thing to get enough of, or equal to basic iron. So many per rock building piece, so many for each terrain edit, so many for everything else too. Even cracking the big roc..

Break stone piles with a hammer to dismantle them. Don't smash them with a weapon.

You also might want to keep the resin to fuel sconces when you get them. Otherwise, you'll have one dark base! I doubt you'd use only the blue torches, because they are more expensive, unless you are ..

You can use the greydwarf eyes for portals, totems (these only work in servers with people, solo it's pointless to use them) and the resin can be your fuel for torches, just keep a small steady supply..

A friend of mine had to put down 25 crafting benches in a medium-sized enclosure to keep things from spawning on a terrain transition. That's carried away, IMO.
